Why are baguettes so popular?
The baguette is to French people what fries are to us and pizza is to Italians. It is our southern neighbours’ ultimate national symbol.

So what makes baguettes so popular? A baguette is much more than an elongated stick of bread. It is an authentic French bread that can be prepared in different ways with all our types of Epistar flour.
To create authenticity, the French baker uses sourdough. Sourdough bread has a different texture and a different tenderness than classic bread.
The Bakkerspanel consumer survey published in May 2021, revealed that Belgian consumers appreciate this tradition!
Once you have created the perfect baguette, it is time to start selling:
EYE-CATCHER: arrange your artisan baguettes in an attractive display, so people can see them from the street as well as in your bakery.
PACKAGING: wrap your baguette in characteristic French paper to reinforce the traditional feel.
ONLINE: showcase your baguettes on social media. Investing in stylish photos or a short video clip showing you taking baguettes out of the oven always pays off.
OFFER ADVICE: share tips with your customers. For example, explain that they can easily restore their baguette’s crunch by sprinkling it with a little water and placing it in a preheated oven at 200°C for 5 minutes.
Did you know that a baguette contains a lot les carbohydrates than regular bread? This is because more water is added. Nevertheless, you still feel full after eating sourdough bread because you have to chew it more.
